Google SketchUp Pro is an easy-to-learn and intuitive 3D modeling tool. It is a great tool to quickly create your conceptual mockups and can also be used for detailed designs. If you are just starting out, Google SketchUp training can be very useful for you.
This blog will walk you through what to expect from our Google SketchUp Essentials training course, a course designed for those with no previous experience that will get you to the point where you can start designing in 3D with confidence within one day of training.
As with all Symetri courses, you will be part of a small group (up to 8 participants) to ensure you have the full attention of the instructor. You will interact with the software throughout the course and will receive all the guidance you need to complete the exercises. You are also encouraged to ask as many questions as you like to ensure you fully understand the concepts and workflow presented.
After a brief overview of the software and interface, you will learn how to create your own SketchUp templates, what you can save in them, and how to access various settings.
We’ll start by detailing all the basic commands for modeling geometry in 2D, and then move on to modeling in 3D. We also explain the most efficient ways to navigate models, best practices for aligning your face consistently, and coordination between different models.
After some hands-on modeling in 3D, we’ll take a look at the basic methods of selecting and referencing existing geometries using inference and locking. We’ll also explore the basic options for manipulating existing geometries, from simple manipulations like moving, copying, rotating, stacking, and mirroring objects, to more complex ones, including offsetting different shapes or extruding faces along the way. Using guides as construction lines and the various ways models can be scaled are covered, as are other topics such as creating 3D text.
Now that we know how to model complex geometries in 3D, let’s explore how to apply materials and manage styles to control how the model is displayed. We then used the geolocation tool to add 3D terrain data and aerial imagery to the model.
We know how important it is to use layers, groups, and components to organize our images and control object visibility. Therefore, we learned how to handle nested groups and components and what happens when we scale similar components differently.
With the different components available, we’ll cover the different components you can access through the app, as well as how to get components from the 3D Gallery. Here you can download the models shared by the community. We also work on interactions with dynamic components and describe some best practices when working with these components, e.g. B. Then the application of fog and shadows can be applied to our model and we use different tools to view the model from different angles by standing in a certain position, looking around the model and walking around the model and flying. The day ends with an overview of some of the most common extensions, various add-ons that can be installed to add functionality and automate some of the most common tasks across industries such as architecture, construction and engineering.
